Tearsheets and Covers

This section showcases the photos and stories I have worked on in their print medium. The idea of print media has been changing for many years and the process is different between digital publication and physical publication.
Columbia Missourian
While working as a Photo Editor for the Columbia Missourian, I had the pleasure of working closely with both photographers and page designers to create beautiful print editions that tell our stories best.
In April 2025, Columbia, Missouri, was hit by the first tornado since the early 2000s. Our visual team was tasked with covering the destruction it caused to the Material Recovery Facility. I was in contact with photographers as they took photos of the area and facilitated the final images that went through the toning process and made it to the page.
Local election coverage in Columbia, Missouri, was largely organized by one of my fellow editors, Molly Fox, who was the point person coordinating this effort. With her efforts, we had a large team of photographers working all day to get complete coverage of the events. I was in contact with many of these photographers before and during their time in the field, discussing what we were looking for and the best way to achieve this vision. I also worked closely with fellow editors and our assistant photo director to create a visually diverse edit with photos from over 10 photographers. We then worked with our design team to create the above tearsheets that would tell the most cohesive and engaging story.
Columbia, Missouri, hosted the first annual 'Ginger Run' for the 2025 St. Patrick's Day celebration. I worked with photographers to ensure we created a broad coverage of the event without repetitive images. After they ingested their photos, I created an edit of the photos and worked with our design team to select photos for the page design.
VOX Magazine
While working as an Assistant Photo Editor for VOX Magazine, I worked with photographers, designers and reporters on longer form products that tell stories of our community and serve our readers.
When working on this story focusing on Davis Taylor, I was tasked with making sure our photographer, Yi Gao, was able to capture a variety of images showcasing Taylor, his wheelchair and his basketball skills. Yi and I had an extensive talk about how to shoot this assignment and what would lead to the most successful feature images. After returning from the shoot, we had another discussion on why she took certain images, what was successful and why. I then worked on creating a tight edit of her best photos, toning those images and working with VOX's design team to create a visually interesting collection to accompany the story.

You Are What You Read
I was involved in the process for this feature story from start to finish, beginning with a planning session between Ashlee Klotzbuecher, Lauren Green and myself. Lauren was the designer for this feature and came up with the concept, 'You are what you read' based on the common saying 'you are what you eat.' Ashlee and I discussed with Lauren how to bring this vision to life, focusing on books stacked on platters, a dinner scene using books as the 'meal' and a serving platter with a stack of books being served to the reader. After our photographer, Ava Kitzi, finished the studio shoot, Ashlee and I made a selection that I then toned and handed over to VOX's design team.
REVOLVE Media
I had the opportunity to work as a Trainee Correspondent and Photography Trainee for REVOLVE Media while studying abroad in Brussels, Belgium. I was able to work closely with photographers from around the world to publish their photo stories under REVOLVE VIEWS, as well as working closely with Wilhelm Westergren for this process. I worked most on The Albufera for the 51st edition of REVOLVE in the spring of 2024.
When I interned with REVOLVE Media, I worked with many photographers from around the world. Juan Solbes created a truly beautiful story documenting the Albufera in Spain, and I had the great joy of working with him and other members of my team at REVOLVE to create this visual narrative. I worked with Solbes to ensure his captioning was consistent and the story he was telling was executed in the best way possible.
